Policy briefing at the UN Human Rights Council

On 6 March 2026 TipESM delivered a policy briefing focused on human rights and climate tipping points. The event took place in Geneva, Switzerland, at the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council.

The event was co-organized with Just Atonement Inc. and the UN Special Rapporteur on Climate Change and Human Rights.

The event provided an opporutnity to discuss human rights implications associated with the crossing of tipping points, including State obligations to respect, protect and ensure human rights. The panel discussed gaps in current governance mechanisms particularly as they relate to human rights and tipping points, and addressed the question of how to strengthen governance mechanisms so that States can respect, protect, and fulfill human rights obligations in the context of tipping points.

Science-to-Policy Forum with European Commission

TipESM took part in the Science-to-Policy Forum with EC members on 25 September 2025. The organization of the Forum was led by ESM2025 project, with participation from: RESCUE, OptimESM, and ClimTip. The policy brief explores:

A. How can we track progress in the real
world and anticipate risks?

B. How effectively will our actions result in
a peak and decline in global warming?

C. How stable are global climate processes
and what are the global and regional
impacts of climatic instability?

D. Research gaps.
