Dr. Torben Koenigk is heading the global climate modelling group at the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute. Torben has a background in maritime meteorology and oceanography and he has worked with coupled global model development, and analysis of climate processes and climate change with particular focus on the Arctic and North Atlantic Ocean. Torben is coordinator of the European Horizon project OptimESM.
In TipESM, Torben Koenigk leads WP5 (Risk for TPs cascades in the Earth system and the role of extremes for TPs) together with Robin Smith. Torben is also involved in setting up protocols for the TipESM ESM simulations and experiments, and is contributing to the analysis of processes linked to tipping points.
